Another beautiful day. I did not sleep long. Yet, I do not want to say badly as I am not tired. I am up went outside early as Bill is still sleeping. On the balcony, I take some photos of the morning sunrise. Who knows how they come out. This is one the things I find with photo taking. You can witness the most beautiful scenic moment, yet somehow when you take the picture it comes out flat. I am sure it has to do with my limited skills and using a point and shoot camera.
I head out for coffee and on the horizon there are four cruise ships preparing to let passengers into port. To the right of the hotel is a parking area, buses are waiting to take tourist to the Mayan ruins. The cruise lets out about 1-2 thousand passengers each ship. The economy will be buzzing in a few hours. Hustlers abound with horse rides, minivans, food carts, taxis to take the more adventurous tourist on their own to these places.
I pick up a cappi at the bakery and drink it sitting down overlooking the water. It is getting time to wake Bill, but first I give him some more time by having the hotel prepare the bill and checking out. It is now time to get Bill going. One thing about Bill he can sleep forever, but he wakes up immediately and gets going even quicker. We pack say our goodbyes to the hotel staff and get into a waiting Mr Bailey's to drive to the bus stop.
What an interesting place. There are windows for ticketing but no one working any of them. You go up to anyone in a yellow shirt and asked when the bus is coming and pay onboard. We find out there is no express bus but a local one is leaving in a few minutes. Yesterday, we were told that there are express buses all day long. I grab some snacks, Bill already full from blueberry cheesecake is good.
The bus is an authentic experience. It is an old 60's or 70's school bus with plastic, fake leather seats, ripped and torn, tight to the knees sitting suitable for elementary school children, hot as hell, no A/c, mothers with babies, packed to the gills with people and music blasting in at ear slitting volumes. The ride across the country cost Bill and me seven dollars, that's right 7 dollars and takes about three hours.
Next the ride....
The sunrise...

Sunrise with cruise ships on the horizon.

The buses standing like statutes waiting for cruise passengers.

Our Cafe where a little cappi makes you happy.
