Am up early as usual. I did some blogging as I wait for the coffee to brew. I am not been overly impressed with Belize coffee. I finish my cup and seek out the staff to grab a cab into town. I need to get an eyeglass screw for my glasses. It would give me a good opportunity to check out the town as today is market day.
I get a free ride from one of the staff who need to gas up the vehicles. I find my eyeglass place but it is still closed. San Ignacio is coming alive with activity. I walked down the lively street until I happen upon a sign that says "cold cappuccino" with an arrow pointing to a set of stairs.
I walk up the narrow stairway and meet Shawn. Irish guy from Boston who is the proprietor of the place. I notice there is free WiFi as well. He makes me a ice cold coffee as I open my IPad and begin typing this blog entry. We chat each other up with the usual where from, how long, where going. I find out he is a chef who got tired of the cold and has been down here for 20 years. One of the great things I enjoy about traveling is talking to people and hearing their stories. As I am drinking my coffee a young couple sits down and begins pitching Shawn about something or another. It seems they run a site, backpackforever.com where they publish stories of people with up to the minute information. What a good idea. Matt and Tran are their names from Houston Texas. I talk about the trip we are on and they ask me to write something for their site. They mention that people who publish articles, stories can link with advertises and receive a percentage of the hits that are made from the article. I take their information before they head off to the next spot finish my coffee and leave.
The eyeglass place now open but did not have a screw for my glasses. It is not a big thing as I brought an extra pair. Now, I am going to do what I have been thinking about and that is look for Mr. Austin Ireland and make him the their recipient of the NYC Keychain Award. I walk to the bus stop and there he is smiling asking me where I want to go. I hand him the keychain as a gift to remember the Messiah will return, take his photo and head back to the hotel to wake Bill. Today is going to be a good day, I can feel it.
Me and my Guy, Mr. Austin Ireland 3rd winner of the NYC Keychain Award and looking proud.
